forgetting God in the joy

I squint in the sun
I smile in the warmth of it all
The one who I adore
Stands by my side

My days are full
My freedoms abound
The world is before me
I pass another day in this dream

But a sharp pain came unwelcome
And though I willed against it
The thoughts were plaguing me
And there was no rest

So I am came to You
In desperation I cried for grace to yield it all
And I gave You my dreams
Through the tears I laid it all down

For I had begun
To worship what He gave
More than the One who gave it to me
And my heart drifted while I rejoiced

Lord, I want none other
I desire You above all else
Teach me to love You more than life itself
I will adore You and praise You for what You give

And it shall be, when the Lord shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto they fathers . . . to give thee great and goodly cities . . . And houses full of all good things . . . Then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name . . . For the Lord thy God is a jealous God."

DEUTERONOMY 6:10-15
