Real

I sat impatiently tapping my foot as I attempted to read my Chemistry book without falling asleep. Every two minutes I glanced at my watch, only to sigh and mentally complain to myself about having to wait for 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment. Glancing up at the front desk I contemplated going up to ask if there was a problem.

Momentarily I was distracted by a frail elderly man meandering up to the front glass door. He slowly opened the door and walked in with a bright pink sweater type jacket. He looked funny carrying it so close to his body and I hid my chuckle with a smile. I watched as he went over to his wife and gently touched her shoulder. Her feeble knees shook as she slowly stood. Patiently, her husband helped her into the sweater before sitting down beside her. I smiled as I watched them smile and talk as they waited. My thoughts were turned from being impatient about my long wait to thinking, “Wow, that’s the real thing.”

My train of thought was interrupted by two young people prancing into the lobby from the back room. He was strong and athletic looking while she was immodestly dressed and smiled like a flirt. They were young and "coupleish" and in fact, most people would say that they were in love. Watching them brought no smile to my face. I sighed as I considered how so many people approach relationships and even marriage so lightly, selfishly and flippantly.

The sweat elderly couple still sat waiting together. That was the real thing. He was a gentleman and loved his wife for who she was, not for the way she looked or for her abilities. She did not love her husband because he was athletic, smart or rich. They loved each other for each other and their love didn't fade. It was as real.

I guess you could say that this is a “Lara” post. (That’s a compliment Larz ;)) But I saw this take place last Wednesday and I’ve been thinking about it off and on since then. America will be restored by strong Christian families. That is how this nation started and it will not be the God-fearing nation that it was until we return to that foundation. Godly men and women, unselfishly serving the Lord together and raising children who have a real relationship with the Lord and a love for Him that causes them to obey His commandment, fear His wrath and preach His word. Real love is devotion. Real families start with real love. Pray that the real America will be restored.

Relationships like that are always cool to witness. I know what you mean about the young couple, in a way I believe that's how my brother and Laura are with each other. I don't get any joy as I see them grow closer :(

You're correct; strong families are needed to bring this nation back to God. Although, I fear our nation is lost. But those are the thoughts of someone using logic. God can turn this nation back into what it once was. Still I believe He will leave us alone and we will end up poisoning ourselves so much that we die. Just look around at what influences America. Music, movies, books, schools, etc. Everything is anti-God. It's sad how we have in some cases as a nation denied God.

Anyways, I have to get up way to early.

Take care,

EMH

Eric - Josiah told me that you told him that Dustin and Laura weren't really going out anymore? Of course, he said that you said that on Friday and you were like acting WEIRD that day. So! :)

I fear that America is lost too. I was reading in Isaiah today. Wow! That is some incredible Scripture. Although, all of it is! :) Anyhow, Israel was "lost" too but if it's God's will, He will cause us to repent.

Oh, about the movie…if it wasn’t late, I’d tell you what I think about it. But remind me Monday if ya want.

Kelc - now don't start that! You have to say more ;-)

Larz - it's totally your kind of post! You should go to Masters with your sis and get a degree in Counseling. ;)
