Family Zoo Trip

No time to write . . . little bear (Charis) is calling as she wakes, "Mommy? Mommy?" :-)

Just a thank you to my wonderful husband for taking the day off, convincing my mom and Jacob to come along, and taking us all to the zoo to relax and enjoy each other yesterday.

He's the best. :-)

Zeke is in there keeping Charis company now. *smiles* That situation will be golden for 'bout five minutes . . . on a good day.

Favorite child dialogue from yesterday:

Coming home from an evening walk. It was time to get the kids in bed. I asked Zeke to take his shoes off and go inside. After helping Charis with her shoes, I glanced up to see Zeke going about his business, not heeding my request. "Zeke, mommy told you to take your shoes off. Let's go bud." He sighed, looked all bent-out-of-shape and said decidedly, "Ok, me kick my shoes off. Me go inside and lock you out." His eyes met mine. "Zeke, you are not to talk to mommy like that. Let's go get "x" (the known punishment for disrespectful talk to mom or dad). He saw that his game was up and in an attempt to not be held accountable for his actions he began to explain why he could not control his rebellion. "Mommy, me tired. This has been a busy day."

Luke and I exchanged glances, held back our laughter, explained that being tired was no excuse for disrespect . . .

I have to remind myself, in this third trimester of pregnancy now, that being tired is no excuse for not being happy and no excuse to not love my husband and children daily, putting their needs above my own.

Little girl Strait moves as much as Charis did. I love the feeling of my baby moving.

Zeke just informed me, between giggles, that he kicked Charis "like three times" and it made her laugh . . .

Time to go. :-)
