It used to annoy me when people would announce their pregnancy on their blog by referring to morning sickness. I would groan when I would read such posts. Literally. It just seemed to take away from "good news" by mingling it with something . . . disgusting.
So! I am determined to break tradition. I am not going to tell you about the days that you lay in bed, wishing that you could be productive but dreading an upright position. Or the smells that send you running into the bathroom almost without warning. : - )
Instead, I want to remember that Monday night, about a month ago when I finally could not stand the suspense of not knowing but strongly suspecting any longer. I started jumping up and down when the pregnancy test showed the positive sign. I found myself on my knees within seconds, praising the Lord for His blessing and begging Him to grant grace and wisdom to me (a silly 19 year old girl) who was going to be a mother.
Luke seemed to come home so late that night from work. In reality, it was only a half hour later than normal. Every two minutes I would check the window to see if the car was pulling up. I tried to make dinner. Finally, I heard the door open and I ran to him . . . then I just held onto him for a while before I whispered, "You're going to be a father . . . "
Previously, I had the idea of taking him to the place where he asked me to marry him . . . for the purpose of telling him there. Now I laugh out loud at the idea. A mere 30 minutes seemed like an eternity. I could have never waited until it was day light and a good time to go to a special place. Yeah, the entire idea is completely laughable.
We had not talked much about our strong desire to have children until we knew that I was expecting. Then it was like this freedom to show each other how happy we were. We were free to dream without being presumptuous. And there was finally not this "attribute" of my life that I thought about but rarely spoke of.
Maybe we'll have a little one on our first anniversary . . . July 26, 2009.

We are celebrating with you both and pray for a healthy joy filled pregnancy. (I suspected this news about three weeks ago. You had that "secret glow" that canot be hid!) We love you! My solution to morning sickness: Put saltine crackers on the bedside table and eat one before you lift your head from the pillow in the morning. Worked for me!
Dad is so incrediably happy and proud of you! Grandpa can't wait to hold that "boy" in my arms. Seriously though, boy or girl...doesn't matter. We are very happy for you and Luke that the Lord is starting to fill your quiver!
Love,
Dad/Grandpa!
It's about time you put this news on your blog... Congratulations!!
