Rushing About

Rushing about
Yet not in a hurry
In and out – to and fro
Why the rush and constant go?

While running no one can grab you
When rushing no one will approach
You appear to have purpose, goals, and a drive
Your soul is crashing down inside

She means the world to you
Yet you do not say
You merely keep going on your way
Keep rushing every minute of every day

For if you let him in he may turn and go away
How many times has friendship made you lose your way?
And when you thought you found the perfect one to love
He too left you broken, kneeling before the One above

Now no one must know that you lay bruised and broken
For you are too busy to let your heart be opened
Keep up the pace that guards your heart from pain
Then open your eyes to see a selfish, bitter, ugly pride

Such different pain
And the more awful still
Intertwined with conviction
But alas, a cry escapes, “Lord Jesus, I do not want to be this way.”
