Freedom

Maybe my brother will never be the president of these United States. Maybe he will never be famous or overly wealthy and successful. Yet, one thing is for sure; he is not your average Christian. Ya'll probably think that I am overly partial but somedays I am seriously astounded that God has so blessed me by allowing me to be his sister. He is absolutely incredible! His insight, wisdom, and thoughts never cease to make me ponder and consider modern events in the light of Scripture and a Biblical worldview.

In a recent email, I related my thoughts about the war that our nation is currently involved in. I wrote out my thought process as I wrestled through the issues of our day. What should we think? Is our nation doing what is right in the eyes of God? What is a Christian's responsibility in response to current events? How should we react to the events of September 11th?

His response was the following:

"Freedom is possessed by the people, not by a nation. A nation only protects it. Therefore, if a people truly posses their freedom, how can a nation "spread" that freedom?

Only individual people can spread true freedom (Republicanism). Nations spread purchased Democracy.

This is why individual charity is so important, and national charity is so erroneous."

The smile that he has in this picture totally captures him. It's the "thoughtful/loving" smile. Ahhh! I can't wait to see my hero. :)
