Wrap it up!

Well, the last few updates have not told you anything about what I have been doing lately. (Which is not a bad thing). I get so tired of blogs that say nothing more than, "Today I washed my car, went to work, and went to the gym." I just wanna say, "Uh hu...and didn't we all?" On the other hand, when people never mention what they've been doing, it gives a strong impression that they haven't been doing anything. Anyhow!

I had an awesome Christmas break that simply flew by. The first week I did all the general Christmas break type of things. Clean the closet, go through papers, average and record school grades, bake stuff for the holidays, do Christmas shopping, watch movies...

The second week I went up to Bellingham with my bro to see some friends that we met at BJU in October. I know, I admit that it is rather strange to go spend three days with someone that you have only met once in your life. Oh well, I never claimed to be a normal individual. Way I saw it, anyone who was crazy enough to go to BJU was conservative enough that I could bear being around them for three days. Oh my word, I didn't have to "bear" anything! I had a completely awesome time. We went snowboarding with a group of people who either go to BJU or have family members who do. The girl that I met (Angela) has an older brother named Chris who ended up being my brother Chris' long lost twin! It was absolutely insane. Down to the fact that they had similar shot guns, these guys were replicas of each other.

Five days before Christmas, my cousin had her first baby! A little boy! This little guy is absolutely adorable. Actually, I'll just throw a photo of him in here. That will speak for itself. :)

This week was the first week back to reality. No more sleeping in until 10:00, no more trips to see friends and no more snowboarding. (At least for a little while). So far, all has gone well. Ahem, that is, I haven't had to take a grade in Chemistry yet this semester. :) No, but I did have to send an email to my Chemistry teacher today because he was telling jokes about cannibalism in preclass. Is it just me, or is that absolutely gross?!

In two weeks I start my on-line English course. So things aren't too hectic just yet. That will add a minimum of 10 hours a week to my study time. It should be worth it though.

Let us see. What else? Oh, music. I'm still taking from Mrs. Adent every other week. She is definitely the most awesome music teacher I have ever had! At first I didn't exactly look forward to my lessons because she really makes me think about what I'm playing. (I know, I'm so lazy!!) Now I'm used to thinking everything through from every angle and my sight reading and playing ability has improved a lot! I never thought I could have so much fun with my music. Seriously, I sit down to work on sight reading through some hymns and stuff and an hour and a half later it feels like absolutely no time has passed! My last lesson I was playing all of these great big chords for this piece and not really worrying about the melody. Then Mrs. Adent got her violin out and played the melody while I just had a blast playing around with these chords. Ok, you people out there who don't enjoy music: don't freak! You would have to do it to understand how much fun it can be. There is SO much more that I still need to learn. When I say that I have improved a lot you have to take into consideration that I was the world's worst sight reader to begin with. Making progress feels awesome though!

The only other new thing right now is that tomorrow night my basketball season starts up. It is so weird, in a way I don't even want to play this year. To be honest, I just want to put High School and everything associated with it behind me. (Well maybe not everything...) On the flip side of that coin, I'll be getting exercise while having fun at the same time. Plus, a lot of my friends are on the team, so that'll be good. If nothing else, it is good stress relief. Ok, I think I have convinced myself that this is not going to torturous. :D

Well, that is about it as far as general things go! I will now rest peacefully knowing that I will not have to hear the, "Why didn't you tell me?!" from the next friend whom I forget to tell some fact about my recent life. Have a good one ya'll!

Luv ya,
Allison
